Aura - Quick Check Overview

Aura's Quick Check mode is an easy way to confirm your Aura Servo Directions are set correctly.

First, check the control surfaces move in the correct direction when responding to a Aura Gyro Correction.

  • There are only 2 ways to affect the direction a Servo will travel when responding to Gyro Corrections:
    • Sensor Orientation
    • Servo Direction in the Servo Tab

Next, check the control surfaces move in the correct direction when responding to Transmitter Stick Inputs.

  • There are 4 main ways to affect the direction a Servo will travel when responding to Transmitter Stick Inputs:
    • Input Direction in the Transmitter
    • Input Polarity Mapping in Aura in the Setup Tab
    • Servo Port Output Mix Scale in the Servo Tab
    • Servo Direction in the Servo Tab

Quick Check - Walkthrough

How To: Start Quick Check

  • Use the Aura Config Tool to Start Quick Check
    • Before starting Quick Check, make sure the Propeller is removed or safe!
    • Follow these directions to [Aura/AuraConfigToolInstall|Install the Aura Config Tool on Windows] if you haven't installed it already
    • Click Connect, Tools -> Quick Check, Start Quick Set
    • The Aura will enter the Quick Check mode and flash the Green LED.

How To: Check Gyro Corrections

  • Once Quick Check has started, Roll the airframe and the servos will Aileron servos will deflect.
    • The servos must move in a direction that would bring the airframe back to level.
    • Repeat this test for Pitch motion and Yaw motion.
    • Add the graphic here to show the correct movement

How To: Fix Gyro Correction Direction if Neccessary

  • If a servo moves in the wrong direction or the wrong servo moves for a given motion, follow the directions below.
  • If the servo moves in the wrong direction for a given motion (ex --> The Aileron servo moves down when the Airplane is Rolled to the Right)
    • This indicates the Servo Direction must be reversed in the Aura.
  • If the wrong servo moves for a given motion (ex --> the Elevator moves when the Airplane is Rolled to the Right):
    • This indicates there is a difference between the Aura Mounting Orientation and its expected Orientation in the Aura.
    • Remount the Aura to match the expected Orientation in the Aura -OR-
    • Use the Aura Config Tool to make the Orientation in the Aura match the Orientation the Aura is physically mounted.

How To: Check Transmitter Stick Directions and Fix if Necessary

  • Use the Gyro Kill Switch Dropdown Box in the Wizard to turn On or Off the Gyro Gain Kill Switch option.
  • The Gyro Gain Kill Switch will turn Off any Gyro Gain corrections when Activated with Gyro Gain Kill Switch Channel.
    • By default, the Gyro Gain Kill Switch will be assigned to Channel 7.

Exit and Restart Aura

  • Use the Crow Switch Dropdown Box in the Wizard to turn On or Off the Crow option.
  • The "On - Switch Channel" option will enable a throttle based Crow Mix to the Ailerons and Flaps when Activated with Crow Switch Channel.
    • If you enable the Crow Option, assign your Crow Switch to Channel 8 in your Transmitter.
