There are two ways to connect the Aura to your Futaba Receiver:
- S.Bus (Hitech implementation of Futaba S.bus)
- Traditional PWM Servo Connection
NOTE: Any recommendations are based on years of knowledge and product use and are informational only.
- We do not 'specify' radio installations. Consult your radio manufacturer for radio information.
- We test and support the use genuine Hitec brand equipment.
Hitec S.Bus
- Preferred way to connect the Aura to Futaba Receivers
- S.Bus - S.Bus is serial data on one wire (Digital). It gives the Aura knowledge of all of the available Hitec channels.
- Aura will follow the Failsafe outputs of the Hitec Receiver.
- Recommended for all aircraft types
- S.Bus Input plugs into Aura Port B (Servo Bus)
- Precise digital Data
- Availability of all 8 Aura Ports as outputs
- Receiver ports are also active and available for use
Notes on using Hitec S.Bus
- Hitec has elected to use the Futaba Header Bytes, so the Aura will work and/or auto-detect as a "Futaba S.Bus"
- Hitec has duplicated some of the Futaba data format such as Channel Order in the data
- Hitec has chosen NOT to duplicate other Futaba data standards such as channel center data, a and direction of travel away from center.
- Due to these variations, you must make some additional changes to your Hitec Transmitter settings in order to 'emulate' a Futaba.
- Reverse Transmitter Channels
- Reverse the Elevator Channel
- Reverse the Throttle Channel (To use the Aura throttle port for an ESC, else as required)
- Reverse the Flap Channel (If needed to match Futaba, or as required)
- Adjust Transmitter EPA (Travel) Settings to make equivalent to Futaba at +-125%
- Aileron Left and Right to 133%
- Elevator Left and Right to 133%
- Rudder Left to 140%, Right to 133% (output not symmetric in Tx's we evaluated)
- CH5/Gear to 100% in both directions
- Subtrim Transmitter Settings (To emulate Futaba Centers, Aura expects CENTERED Data)
- Aileron to +7
- Elevator to -7
- Rudder to +7
- Gear to +7
- Flap to +7
- Throttle to -7
- Reverse Transmitter Channels
Traditional PWM Servo Connections
- Least preferred
- Recommended for all aircraft types.
- Supports virtually all receivers
- Limits port availability. Typically Aura will be configured with 4 inputs and 4 outputs with PWM.
