Configuration Tools for Betaflight

Click here for Betaflight Configuration tools notes, and install Links

Various FV-31 Cypher FLEXF3 settings can be edited using a BetaFlight Configuration Tool. We use the following ones. Only one configurator install is needed. Multiple links to multiple platforms and versions are provided below.
Betaflight Configurator
  • BetaFlight Configurator For Windows PC (Typically a Windows 7, 8, or 10 PC will use the Asset with name "betaflight-configurator-installer_<version>_win32.exe"). Works via Micro USB cable. Versions for Mac OS X and Linux may also be available, though Flex does not test or support these versions.
  • Speedy Bee Betaflight App for Android. Works via Bluetooth or Micro USB cable (Micro USB requires OTG adapter for most devices)
  • Speedy Bee Betaflight App for iOS (Apple Iphone and Ipad). Works via Bluetooth.
  • Speedy Bee and Betaflight Configurator interfaces are nearly identical. Common instructions can be used for both platforms.

  • General tips on using and troubleshooting your configurator can be found on its Welcome and Documentation & Support pages
  • You have two choices to connect your configurator's device to your Cypher
    • The provided USB Cable connects your Cypher's FLEXF3 to your android device or PC etc..
      • Launch your Configurator, Plug in the cable, Hit connect
      • Additional power to the Cypher should not be required to make adjustments (powered via USB)
    • The provided Bluetooth Dongle plugs into the white connector next to the USB connector
      • Plug in the dongle then power-up your Cypher with a flight battery.
      • Launch the Speedy Bee App and hit the 'Start Scanning' button. Connect to the Flex BT device.
      • Settings will load automatically
      • There should be no need to go to your devices 'Bluetooth Settings'. The BLE Dongle should simply work from the APP.

Use a Configuration Tool to Set or Reset the Angle/Six Axis Level

NOTE: The wing leveling six axis mode is named ANGLE mode in Betaflight lingo.
  • Place your Cypher on a level surface. Check that wings are level. You may want to shim the nosewheel up 2-5mm to set a more positive angle. (The angle relates to trim speed and can be set to taste).
  • Connect to your configuration tool and navigate to the Setup page.
  • With the Cypher level per above, click the Calibrate Accelerometer button.
  • Note the settings are now zeroed out. You are finished. Disconnect.

Troubleshoot ARMING Difficulties

  • Click this link to see notes on trouble shooting including a complete list of Prevention Flag Meanings
  • Review notes at link above for Betaflight 3.5
  • Note your Cypher's Arming Disable Flags using the Betaflight Configurator on the Setup page in the Info box at right.
  • Some common (beep code) Examples:
    • (2) FAILSAFE - Rx signal indicates Failsafe
    • (3) RXLOSS - No valid Rx signal found - Check Tx and Rx on and bound and connected
    • (7) THROTTLE - Throttle too high - lower throttle
    • (8) ANGLE - Cypher must be level within 25 degrees to arm
    • (13) CLI - CLI mode is active - Exit CLI and/or Disconnect configurator
    • (17) MSP - Connected to configurator - Disconnect

  • Note that FV-31 Cypher code is based on Betaflight version 3.5. It is unique code, and it is not possible to build it with the 'generic source code'.
  • Note that the FLEXF3 Board/PCBA is hardware specifically developed by Flex Innovations for the FV-31 Cypher.
