Aura Config Files by the Flex Innovations Team

Aura Config Files can be downloaded and saved to your PC. Use the Aura Config Tool to open the file. Each file can be reviewed, modified, and saved as needed.

For additional information, check Installing your Aura and Configuring your Aura. We currently support Spektrum, Futaba, Graupner, and JR Transmitters. For FR Sky, we recommend using our Custom FR Sky Transmitter File for easiest setup.

Do NOT fly any model without carefully checking the sensor and transmitter response. Servo Ports are labeled/named on the Servo Port Tab of the Aura Config Tool Application.

Mamba Based - Model 12 Biplane with Crow (Simple Activation)

This is a relatively advanced example of a 4 servo biplane with Crow Enabled. It does NOT require an extra channel for Crow, Crow is driven only by selection of FM1, with Aura Mixes from throttle into a 'proxy Channel (21)' to split the ailerons using Custom settings in the Servo Ports Tab. Gyro's are able to be in the loop at all times, and at optimum stick priority gain mapping.

  • Requires Digital or 8 PPM N Input to be selected by the USER
  • 3 flight modes (FM1:High Rate/High Gain/Crow, FM2:Low Rate/Low Gain/No crow, FM3:High Rate/High Gain/No Crow)
  • Quick Set: Disabled
  • Quick Trim: Enabled
  • Master Gain: Enabled on CH6/Aux1 **
  • Mixes (Aura Mix 1) to Aura Channel 21 (a Proxy or Phantom channel in Aura) from Throttle Data.... Crow increases from Mid Throttle to Low Throttle in FM1
  • Ch 21 added as Source 2 in each Aileron Servo Port to allow inclusion of Crow Data.
  • Download: (Done as Futaba S.Bus but you can easily change in Setup for other brands/connections)

Note: 3D Gains are relatively high. High speed flight may cause oscillations with these settings. This model is in a base to be customized. You are expected to adjust Direction, Output Scale, Mix Rates, etc to match your model. Perform and pass all transmitter command and sensor checks before flying! If you are near the 'limit' of your servo or linkage travel, use Min/Max Servo Pulse Width to set a protection limit (ex. Aileron Servo Ports).

You can easily 'build' on this model and customize it. If you want 'crow' driven by transmitter data, instead of a 'proxy', simply disable Mix 1 and use a transmitter channel (ex: CH7) instead of Ch 21 as Source 2 on the Servo Ports Tab.

Tips: Focus on the normal aileron setup first getting them centered, and equal (or desired) travel on each surface using a ruler and the Output Scale adjustments for each Servo/Port. Next add/deploy the crow, and use the Source 2 Mix value and the ruler to put equal (or desired) Crow into each Aileron.
  • This program was flown with a Futaba T8J Transmitter. Since all 3 Flight Modes are 'Gyro Enabled', for safety/test a 2-position switch is used to on the Master Gain to turn the Gyro action on/off with CH6. Perform the take-off and climb to safe altitude with the gyro off.

Relevant CH6 settings in the T8J are: Switch E set to change CH6 Data, CH6 Direction=Reversed, CH6/FLP Travel=0/100. (The Zero will give Centered CH6 output which is Gyro Gain as Set in the Aura Config Tool, and the '100' will give CH6 Low output which is Gyro Gain OFF, you can check this in your Transmitter Monitor.)

Pay attention to the mix vs Tx Reversing of the throttle Channel. If the throttle servo direction or geometry is opposite ours, the Aura Throttle to Ch21 Mix will likely need to be 'flipped' to the other side.

BVM Config File

Yak 130 (P160 Turbine): Aura Config File with Powersafe SRXL Receiver

  • Used with DX18 and AR12120 Rx using SRXL Data and a second power jumper to Aura.
  • Set to Auto-Detect if SRXL data is not found.
  • Flight Modes selected with CH11/XPlus1 assigned in Tx to the same switch as FLAPS.
  • Master Gain is enabled with a rotary knob assigned to CH15/XPlus3.
  • Gains increase as flaps are lowered
  • Nose wheel steering uses inputs from Rudder (steering) with gain enabled and CH8/Aux3 (assigned to LTrmA) for trimming nose wheel (during taxi) while maintaining optimum gain.
  • Aura subtrims (If you utilize this model, zero out the subtrim values in the Servo Ports Tab then apply new values as needed)
  • Servo Port S8 is available as a 'channel expander' servo output with Ch17/XPlus5 data currently output
  • Quick Trim via BP S3: Disabled Quick Setup via BP S2: Disabled
  • Downloads: (presented as Spektrum, can easily change to Futaba S.Bus)

ParkZone Habu (foamie): Auto-Detects Digital Input

  • Will auto-detect digital inputs or can be manually changed to other inputs such as diversity.
  • Use Standard Aura Transmitter settings (per manual)
  • Servo Ports: AilL, AilR, Elev, Rudd
    • Can use Aileron Y-harness, or a port for each Aileron as desired
  • Includes an Aura mix: Rudder->Elevator for knife edge correction. Adjust as needed for your airframe.
  • Flight Modes are switched with Ch5/Gear
  • FM0: Uses CM-D. Middle Rates, Middle Gains. Uses Rate COMMAND control for Aileron instead of traditional Rate Dampener. Roll rate is sought with full gain throughout the stick range and seeks the commanded rate. The roll rate will be more consistent with changing airspeed.
    • You can assign Control Mode A (CM-A - no gyro) for test flying or as alternate
  • FM1: Uses CM-B. Mid-Low Rates, Mid-Low Gains. All axis use traditional Rate Dampener controls
  • FM2: Uses CM-C. Mid-High Rates, Mid-High Gains. All axis use traditional Rate Dampener controls
  • Master gain is active on Ch8/Aux3 (can be disabled in App)
  • Check subtrims on the Servo Port tab in the app and adjust as needed. Quick Trims can be used after test flight.
  • For this type of flying, you can add in some transmitter Low Rates if desired to have more options available.
  • Custom Aura Orientation is used in Model/Config Tool. Adjust as needed.
  • Quick Setup via Bind Plug in S2: Disabled
  • Quick Trim via Bind Plug in S3: Enabled
