Firmware Update using Boot Pins)

Note: Before utilizing this method, close all apps and restart your PC and try the normal procedure on the Firmware Update Page again.

Note: We do not use, and do not recommend the use of the Zadig driver program mentioned by BetaFlight. We have seen poor results when used and are unable to support if installed.

Note: As usual, you will need the CP210x Drivers installed as found on the BF Welcome Screen.

Note: You can use the Windows Device Manager to confirm the driver is installed correctly and connected and what Com port is in use by the CP210x (FlexF3).

Note: if you are not successful, REBOOT the PC and/or try a DIFFERENT PC. These two points have solved most failed update cases.

If you have lost communication with your board follow these steps to restore communication using the Windows Betaflight Configurator:

  • Power off, Disconnect FLEXF3 from USB Cable
  • Enable No reboot sequence.
  • Enable Flash on Connect.
    Boot Pins
  • Enable Full chip erase.
  • Disable Manual baud rate.
  • Jumper (short) the BOOT pins.
  • Press the Load Firmware [Local] button at the bottom right.
  • Select the *.hex file from the location you stored it in prep.
  • Connect USB Cable to FLEXF3 (activity LED will NOT flash if done correctly). The Flash update should start automatically. Wait for it to complete.
  • Remove BOOT jumper. Remove USB cable.
  • Power on by USB cable (activity LED should flash).
  • Connect normally and Update Settings.
