Advanced Aura Config Files

Since this is for advanced users, we will not go into great detail, but will instead present the file with some high level notes on its features and implementation!

Features

  • Adds High Gain custom Nosewheel Steering gyro input via secondary control Mode E in gyro enabled modes!
  • Nosewheel movement and gain is switched off when Gear is retracted!
  • Add Transmitter independent TRIMMING to the Nosewheel Steering via Channel 10 Transmitter Channel Data! Once your model is quicktrimmed, you can still trim your nosewheel from the transmitter with optimum gyro conditions and no effect on the rudder!
  • Most features and ports follow the same basis as the Normal Files

Hints on the new features!

  • It is advanced, but you can follow the flow from Input to Output in the Config Tool! Open the file and follow along! You can see some of the Power of Aura!
  • Channels in the 19-24 range are what we call Phantom Channels They typically don't exist in the Transmitter, but we generate them in Aura do to these advanced things!

  • Channel 21 (CH21 is the primary steering data) is a copy of Tx Rudder data created with Input Remapping on the Setup Tab
    • CH21 is the Control Mode Input for YAW in Control Mode E. Pitch and Roll inputs are NONE.
    • Yaw Gain is set Very High in Control Mode E
    • Note Gain Scaling is Switched On/Off in Control Mode E by CH24 (see below)
    • CH21 Now complete with Transmitter Input and Gyro Gain is now used in Servo Port S6 (Steering) as Source 1

  • CH10 is nosewheel Trimmer data from Transmitter
    • CH10 can be mapped to a trimmer on the Transmitter assignments (or even a lever or knob, or you can have a channel with no switch/control assigned and simply use the channels SUBTRIM menu!) It should be ZERO/center data as a starting point.
    • CH10 is also input into Servo Port S6 as Source 2 at about 50% and is Summed or 'Mixed' with the Steering data. (all independent/after the gyro processing, it simply rotates the servo!)

  • CH24 is basically a Reverse of the CH5/Gear channel data. It is a bit of a 'hack'
    • CH24 is generated by Aura Mixes -> Mix 4 noting the Master (CH5/Gear) and Slave (CH24) Channels.
      • You can see it is Always On and active in All Flight Modes.
      • The Negative Values in the Mix Rate make the Channel Data REVERSE. If your Gain was active in the wrong gear location, you could switch these to Positive Values.
    • As noted above, CH24 is used to TURN THE GYRO GAIN OFF in Control Mode E when the Gear is UP. We already canceled the Gyros input when the gear is UP, now we need to cancel the Pilots!
    • We could use the CH5/Gear data, but it turns out it was turning it Off when the gear was Down instead, so we made this Reversed channel.

  • Mix 1 is used to essentially Turn OFF the Transmitter Commands to the Nosewheel Steering when the Gear is up.
    • You can see it is switched on and off by the Gear Channel and is active in all Flight Modes
    • The Master and Slave are both CH21. It is Mixed into itself at -100% in one CH5/Gear switch position. This has the effect of CANCELLING the input!
    • If it was Cancelling the steering input in the wrong Gear position you could change Switch Pos 0 to Inactive and Switch Pos 1 to Active.

  • Did you KNOW?
    • On Each Flight Mode screen, there is a Box/Feature called Additional Dual Rates and Expo
    • You can use this to apply Dual Rates and Expo by Flight Mode to any channel, including Phantom ones!
    • You can adjust these Rates and Expo easily on you Nose Wheel Steering (CH21) for example, and further customize the feel of your Nosewheel in each Flight Mode independent of the Rudder,
    • You can also use this technique on things like Aileron Input (which can be seen in the servo ports as CH22) to the Tailerons. There are many possibilities!
